Exterior Design and Features
The exterior retains a familiar shape while adopting sharper lines, especially evident in the square stance achieved by refining the previous model’s rounded edges. The front fascia is dominated by a wider kidney grille complemented by sleeker headlights, enhancing its assertive presence. The profile maintains familiarity until the D-pillar, where broader rear lines suggest increased rear overhangs. BMW’s attention to detail extends to the multi-spoke alloy wheels, ensuring a striking visual appeal. At the rear, a wide glass house and redesigned taillamps contribute to its distinctive appearance, with minimalistic badging adding elegance in a new font.
Interior Comfort and Space
Inside, BMW continues its minimalist approach with spacious customisable digital displays and a flat-bottom steering wheel featuring integrated control clusters. The redesigned layout optimizes front cabin space, housing the iDrive dial and gear selector mechanism ahead of a storage area. The rear bench comfortably accommodates three passengers, supported by the X3’s consistent wheelbase but enhanced overall length, resulting in a larger boot capacity. The standard model boasts 530 litres of storage, a 20-litre increase from its predecessor, expandable by folding the second row for an additional 100 litres.
BMW X3 – Features and Technology
The BMW X3 comes equipped with a comprehensive feature set, including dual digital displays, multi-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS with auto park, full LED lighting, a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, connected car capabilities, Harman Kardon sound system, and a heated steering wheel. iDrive 9 integrates many functions into the screen interface, optimizing storage space throughout the cabin.
Powertrain Options
While global markets feature plug-in hybrid, petrol, diesel, and electric variants, India is likely to receive petrol (xDrive20i) and diesel (xDrive20d) options. Both variants will include a standard 48V mild-hybrid system, eight-speed AT, and xDrive AWD configuration.
Market Arrival and Competition
Anticipated for a 2025 launch in India, the BMW X3 will be locally assembled to compete with rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60. Pricing is expected to range between Rs. 70 lakh and Rs. 80 lakh, positioning it competitively in the premium SUV segment.
