Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale has qualified for the finals of the 50m rifle 3 positions event in Chateauroux, securing his place with a seventh-place finish in the qualification round.

On Wednesday, Swapnil Kusale demonstrated his skills by securing a spot in the finals of the 50m rifle 3 positions event after achieving a score of 590 (38x) across different shooting positions. Kusale shot 198 (99, 99) in the kneeling position, 197 (98, 99) in the prone position, and 195 (98, 97) in the standing position. Despite Kusale’s advancement, fellow shooter Aishwary Tomar did not make it to the final, ending in 11th place with a total score of 589 (33x). Tomar’s scores included 197 (98, 99) in the kneeling position, 199 (100, 99) in the prone position, and 193 (95, 98) in the standing position.

The finals for the 50m rifle 3 positions will take place on Thursday.

China’s Liu Yukun topped the qualification with a total score of 594 points. He was followed by Norway’s Jon-Hermann Hegg in second place with 593 points. Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish took third place with 592 points. France’s Lucas Kryzs (592-35x) secured fourth place, while Serbia’s Lazar Kovacevic (592-33x) was fifth. Poland’s Tomasz Bartnik finished sixth with a score of 590 (40x). The last spot for the finals was claimed by Jiri Privratsky of the Czech Republic with 590 (35x).

In last year’s Asian Games held in Hangzhou, Kusale, along with Tomar and Akhil Sheoran, won the gold medal in the team event for 50m rifle 3 positions. Kusale, who trains under Tejaswini Sawant in Kolhapur, had previously finished fourth in the same event at the Asian Games.
